There are two types of prison flicks. Woman in Prison Movies
And Men in Prison Movies
Men in prison movies tend to be more serious affairs and are often as formulaic as the WIP films. (Guy gets shanked, guy gets raped in shower, guy gets thrown off 2nd floor to death.) They main problem with men in prison movies is that no matter how the movie stacks the deck the main character is still a self important loser. (Shawshank Redemption is a rare exception that proves this rule.) I wouldn't want to go to prison and visiting one for two hours simply isn't all that fun. Unless of course it looks like the prison below.
